League Chairman's Report on 2007 Season by Tony Eskew
The 2007 season may have suffered from the weather, but proved to be one of
the most successful we have ever had. Our hard working Secretary was
thankfully much better supported by the many Club Team Organisers, and I
thank you all for your efforts.
Competition in most of the leagues was much closer with final positions in
doubt to the very last matches.
No league can operate without effective organisation at club level, and we
all owe it to our hard working Secretary to continue the good work.
My thanks to all our sponsors whose support and interest is greatly
appreciated; the various league officers and particularly Corin. The amount
of time he gives to ensuring the smooth running of all our events and his
organisational skills are really what keeps the ship afloat.
Finally, thanks to direct contact between the summer and winter leagues, we
seem to have overcome most of our problems concerning the overlap which has
plagued us each spring. By bringing forward the start of the winter season
and some teams playing the first of their second round of matches before
Christmas, we should all have a much easier time in April 2008.
